Converting to COBOL for OS/390 & VM - Course Objectives
On successful completion of this course, the student, with the aid of the appropriate reference materials, should be able to:
1. Discuss the major differences between the OS/VS COBOL Compiler and the
COBOL for OS/390 & VM compiler, and how these differences impact
existing code
2. Make any necessary changes to existing COBOL programs to allow them to be
correctly compiled under COBOL for OS/390 & VM, and to have the
resulting object
code produce the same results as previously
3. Modify existing programs, or plan new programs to use the new features of COBOL
for OS/390 & VM, especially:
a. In-line PERFORM
b. PERFORM with pre-test
or post-test
c. 31-bit addressing
capability
d. Statement delimiters
e. EVALUATE
f. Expanded VSAM debugging
information
