DB2 / CICS Interface - Course Objectives

On successful completion of this course, the student, with the aid of the appropriate reference materials, should be able to:

  1. Describe the nature of the CICS / DB2 Interface
  2. Discuss the impact of using DB2 access in the CICS application environment
  3. Prepare DB2 / CICS programs for execution
  4. Administer the CICS Attachment Facility
  5. Use specific CICS programming techniques to optimize the use of system resources with respect to DB2
  6. Understand the nature and function of DB2CONN, DB2ENTRY, and DB2TRAN CICS resources for DB2
  7. Develop CICS programs that are compatible with concurrent batch programs that share DB2 data.
