These pages are provided as a starting point for you to tailor and put on your own company intranet.

You can download the files to your workstation, edit them, and then upload them to your intranet server.

The purpose is to provide you with some tools to raise visibility of the mainframe side of IT to a broader audience. Employees and management of your company need an appreciation and awareness of the mainframe's presence and benefits to your organization. Without this, mainframe support is likely to be ignored, right at a time when it is most dearly needed.

To continue viability of the mainframe underpinnings in your company, you need to ensure budget is there for upgrades, training, payroll and benefits. If awareness of the value of the mainframe in your organization is not strong, the budget will be lost to more visible areas of the business.

To download a file, first set up a directory on your workstation, say "mainframe". Then simply right click on the link below; this will display a pop-up menu: select "Save Link As..." and save the related file into that directory.

If you can download your company logo, it would be good to replace our supplied logo image with your company logo image.

You then want to edit the HTML files and possibly the style sheet (ttfstyle.css):

• Wherever you see 'ourLogo.gif' replace it with the name of your company logo file
• Wherever you see '~~companyName~~' replace it with your company name
• Wherever you see a string of tilde characters (~~~~) replace it with the appropriate verbage
• Wherever you see '~~contactName~~' replace it with the name of the person to be contacted
• Next to the contact name, provide their phone number or extension
• Wherever you see '~~emailaddress~~' replace it with the email address of the contact person
• Change the 'last updated' information at the bottom of each page
• Re-write / add / delete elements on each page to reflect your installation
• The HTML pages are written in HTML 5, and should be easy to modify
• Feel free to add more pages (provide links to them from the Index.htm file)
• Upload to your intranet server and test
• Ask the intranet owner to provide a link to the Index.htm page
