This course is designed to provide an introduction to the IMS Database Recovery Control (DBRC) Facility. Through lecture and hands-on lab exercises, this course enables students to gain fundamental skills necessary to perform database recovery and protect database integrity using DBRC.

Audience

System and database administrators who are responsible for the implementation, operation, and recovery procedures at their installation.

Prerequisites

The student should already posses an understanding of basic IMS concepts, be familiar with the IMS environment (online, batch, and database utilities), have a working knowledge of his or her installation's IMS system, have some background in the administration of the IMS system and databases, have some familiarity with z/OS or MVS control programs and also with VSAM file structure and VSAM Access Method Services (AMS)
