As a trainer since 1985, and self-employed since 1986, Rick has been involved in many projects, including:
- Writing course materials to be used by other instructors in the business featuring DB2, IMS, CICS, COBOL, Oracle, and MS SQL Server
- Teaching classes for companies such as Pepsico, JCPenney, Neiman Marcus, State of Mississippi, Harris Bank, Cigna, and Pacific Life.

High Technologies - President; technical training, solutions development. Rick founded the company then sold it to a Boston firm and continued to serve as President.

Shared Financial Systems - Development manager, involved in design, code, test, and implementation of CICS-IMS/DB Customer Information system; DBA support; instructor to client programming staff on CICS and IMS.
1981-1984: Dallas, Texas
Zales Corporation - Lead Analyst, involved in design, code, test, and implementation of CICS-IMS/DB systems for Purchase Order Management, Transfers Systems, and more.
1979-1981: Dallas, Texas
Gibbs and Hill - Development Manager; technical work included establishing and RJE site linked to an IBM 3033 running under MVS using TSO, CICS, and TONE; management responsibilities included budgeting, work scheduling, data entry staff supervision, and monitoring on-line system.
