Here are some of the careers available in the mainframe group. Click on the

- Programmers - men and women who write programs and maintain applications;
highly trained and skilled in very technical areas
* Programming languages: COBOL, Assembler, PL/I, C
* Transaction processing: CICS, IMS
* Data base and file use (VSAM, DB2, Oracle)
* Development skills (TSO/ISPF, JCL)
* Debugging (problem solving for problems in the code)
- Analysts - people with both technical knowledge and business understanding
who design whole applications and evaluate requests for new applications and
modifications to existing applications
- Systems programmers - people conversant with the internals of the
mainframe software and how to install the software on the hardware to
provide a viable, high-performance platform for running applications
- Security - specialists who understand the importance of maintaining
confidentiality and integrity of data, networks, and systems
- Operations - men and women who run the mainframe, 24 hours a day, every
day of the year; submitting jobs, solving operational issues, distributing
outputs, keeping the system humming
- Technical trainers - technical skills are so specialized that we have our
own people assigned to providing updates to experienced staff and
introductory training to new hires and transfers
- Clerical - like all departments, we have need for people to assist witn
expediting our work, who don't need technical skills or training but who can
get the job done as asked and needed
- Management - men and women who make it possible for all of the above to be
effective in their jobs by giving direction, setting priorities, and
providing necessary support to get the job done
