Classic Sites and Unusual Experiences
Denver Takayama Sister Cities
Takayama as we see it
Takayama has a long history as the source of timber for temples and houses all over Japan. Located in the mountainous Hida region of Gifu prefecture, this town has retained its picturesque quality. Takayama is Denver's Japanese Sister City and the relationship has been going since 1960.
Hotel:
We will be staying one night at a modern version of a classic ryokan (Japanese inn), the Ryokan Asunaro and three nights at the Wat Hotel. Both are centrally located in the town and provide easy walking access to many shops and sites.
Here's a nice reveiw of the ryokan.
There is an onsite laundry facility available for your use in the Wat Hotel, and other nice amenities also.
