WebSphere for zSeries: Introduction - Course Objectives

On successful completion of this class, the student, with the aid of the appropriate 
reference materials, should be able to:

  1. Establish workspaces and connections from the workstation to the host under WebSphere Developer for zSeries (WD/z)

  2. Issue TSO commands and connect to TSO/ISPF from WD/z

  3. Manage sequential files and libraries (PDS and PDSE and members in these) in terms of generating lists of relevant files and establishing mappings to describe how to upload and download these files

  4. Edit files using the LPEX editor supplied with WD/z

  5. Use data set facilities to allocate, populate, rename, and delete host files from the workstation using WD/z

  6. Compare members and files

  7. From the workstation, submit batch jobs to run on the host, and to view the output from those jobs

  8. Assign properties to data sets and files as appropriate for each file

  9. Use the WD/z capabilities to generate JCL to Assemble or compile, program bind, SQL pre-process or co-process, CICS pre-translate or co-translate, DBRM bind, and run, as appropriate to each program

  10. Create projects to manage building executable programs from multiple components, including having WD/z rebuild executables from their component source pieces, and running the resulting executable.
