Takayama As We See It

Takayama has a long history as the source of timber for temples and houses all over Japan. Located in the mountainous Hida region of Gifu prefecture, this town has retained its picturesque quality. Takayama is Denver's Japanese Sister City and the relationship has been going since 1961.

Hotel:

In all the other cities we visit, we will be staying in Western style hotels. In Takayama we are planning to stay in a ryokan (Japanese Inn). Those who prefer to stay in a Western style hotel in Takayama may do so.

At this point, the ryokan we will be staying at is Ryokan Seiryu. The alternative Western style hotel is Hotel Spa Alpina.

  • All locations are within walking distance of Takayama Station
  • Plenty of restaurants nearby.
  • No internet access in the ryokan, available in the hotel
